Acecook Vietnam Continues to Partner in Enhancing Community Disaster Response Capacity in Dak Lak

Recently, Acecook Vietnam, in collaboration with the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, organized a training program titled “Enhancing Community Capacity in Disaster Risk Assessment Practices and Emergency Nutrition Assurance.” This initiative aims to improve proactive disaster response capabilities at the local level.

In the context of increasingly complex natural disasters, Acecook Vietnam desires to collaborate with functional agencies to enhance the community’s prevention and response capabilities through practical local activities.

As part of the cooperative activities between Acecook Vietnam and the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention, the training program in Dak Lak further affirms the company’s commitment to working with functional agencies to improve disaster prevention and control capacity for the community. Beyond supporting residents when disasters strike, Acecook Vietnam also focuses on activities to raise awareness, equip knowledge, and skills to enable communities to proactively prevent and respond to natural disasters.

Previously, Acecook Vietnam coordinated various awareness-raising activities on disaster prevention and control, such as educating over 1,000 students in Thai Nguyen and training journalists. The program in Dak Lak continues this collaborative journey, aiming to build proactive communities ready to respond to natural disasters.

Equipping Knowledge and Response Skills from Local Practical Experience

The program saw the participation of 40 delegates and trainees, including officials from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Red Cross, commune-level disaster prevention and control officials, rapid response forces, village heads, and representatives of mass organizations and socio-political organizations in Dak Lak province.

During the training sessions, participants were guided on how to practically assess community-based disaster risks; identify vulnerable factors, determine disaster risks, and propose appropriate disaster prevention and control solutions tailored to local conditions.

Notably, the content was designed to enhance practical application and connect with real local conditions, helping trainees directly apply what they learned to disaster prevention and control work at the grassroots level after the program.

Additionally, the program also guided residents on preparing suitable food sources in emergency situations. As a supporting enterprise, Acecook Vietnam introduced instant food products like Hao Hao, which are convenient, easy to store, and use, contributing to helping people be more proactive in preparing for disaster response.

Mr. Nguyen Huynh Quang, Deputy Head of the Department of Community Disaster Risk Management and Communication, Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention, shared: “In 2025, many heavy rains, floods, flash floods, and inundations far exceeded past scenarios and monitoring data. Therefore, disaster prevention and control at the community level needs to shift from passive response to proactive prevention, and especially the participation of the people is essential.”

Joining Hands to Build Proactive, Safe Communities Against Natural Disasters

Beyond equipping grassroots officials with knowledge and skills, the program also created opportunities for trainees and local residents to participate in consultations, exchanges, and verification of disaster risk assessment results in Hoa Thinh commune.
