Acecook Vietnam: Three Decades of Resilient Sustainable Development for a Green Planet

For three decades, Acecook has been deeply connected with Vietnamese consumers, understanding the responsibility of a food business: not only to provide millions of delicious and nutritious meals but also to contribute to building a sustainably developed Vietnam.

From the very beginning of its establishment in Vietnam, the founders nurtured the belief that business development must go hand in hand with community development. It is from this philosophy that “Green Planet” has become a crucial pillar in Acecook Vietnam’s sustainable strategy.

For Acecook Vietnam, “Green Planet” is not just a formal slogan; it is realized through small actions, repeated daily throughout the entire operational system. Every step, no matter how quiet, contributes to creating a seamless “green cycle” – where sustainable development is no longer a declaration but the daily rhythm of the business.

“Green Planet” – Clean Energy

The transition to green energy plays a vital role in the sustainable development strategies of businesses. For Acecook Vietnam, the journey towards a “Green Planet” also begins with optimizing energy use.

To achieve this goal, Acecook Vietnam has installed a solar power system at its Head Office and factory in Ho Chi Minh City, generating an average of 900,000 kWh/year, enough to produce approximately 36 million packs of Hảo Hảo noodles. Adopting clean energy not only brings significant economic benefits but also demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to reducing CO2 emissions, actively contributing to environmental protection efforts.

The rooftop solar power system is used for production activities and the 5-story main office building in Tan Binh Industrial Park (HCMC) where over 400 employees are working.

In parallel with the installation of solar power, Acecook is also actively implementing other renewable energy sources into its production processes.
Since 2021, the company has installed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) boiler systems at several factories. This conversion has brought clear efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 43%, NOx (nitrogen oxides) by 70%, and eliminating SO2 (sulfur oxides) emissions. In addition, traditional boilers are gradually being replaced with rice husk-fired boilers – an environmentally friendly and affordable biomass fuel. Since 2023, Acecook Vietnam has continued to accelerate the conversion to biomass-fueled boilers for its remaining factories.

Thanks to these efforts, the company has increased its renewable energy usage to 54% by 2025. The company aims to complete the transition to renewable fuels for all factories by 2025.

Reducing Plastic Packaging – Reducing Environmental Pressure

In addition to energy optimization, Acecook Vietnam also demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development by strictly adhering to the 2020 Environmental Protection Law.

Acecook embraces the spirit of “Green Consumption – Healthy Living Together” with its Modern cup noodles, Handy Hao Hao cup noodles, Mi To Nho Mai Mai,… which have improved paper packaging.

Most notably, starting from July 2024, the company has replaced plastic packaging with paper packaging for its key cup, bowl, and tray noodle products such as Modern, Handy Hảo Hảo, and Caykay, helping to cut approximately 1,900 tons of plastic annually.

Acecook Vietnam is also gradually replacing plastic forks with bio-plastic forks containing 40% to less than 60% bio-carbon content for some of its cup and bowl noodle products. These forks have received Ok Biobased 2* certification from TUV Austria (Europe). This is an important step with significant meaning in reducing single-use plastic, affirming the spirit of “Green Consumption – Healthy Living Together” that Acecook Vietnam promotes.

When Green Commitment Turns into Action

To realize sustainable development goals, businesses need to establish an efficient production byproduct circular economy. This not only reduces environmental pressure but also optimizes operational efficiency. At Acecook Vietnam, production byproducts are utilized as animal feed through collaboration with partners instead of being discarded. As a result, approximately 1,500 tons of byproducts are recycled annually.

Acecook Vietnam was honored as one of the “Top 50 Exemplary Sustainable Development Enterprises 2025.”

Furthermore, Acecook Vietnam also implements Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Since 2024, the company has signed a contract with Kraft Vina Paper Co., Ltd. to recycle all paper packaging, estimated to reach 7,000 – 8,000 tons annually. For plastic packaging, Acecook also fulfills its obligation to pay recycling fees to the Vietnam Environment Protection Fund as regulated. Additionally, the company actively spreads environmental protection awareness to every employee and the community through meaningful campaigns. One such campaign is “Continuing the Life of a Plastic Cup,” which encourages people to creatively recycle plastic products into useful items.

With continuous efforts in production innovation and the application of green technology, Acecook Vietnam is asserting its pioneering role as a business that links its operations with the sustainable development goals of society as a whole. Each quiet, persistent change represents the company’s call to collaborate with the community in building a green environment.

All of this is guided by the strategy “Cook Happiness Through Innovation,” where every product and every action of Acecook Vietnam carries a message of dedication, creativity, responsibility, and the aspiration to create sustainable value.
