Each time eating MSG (sweet powder), or seasoning powder, I got a terrible headache. I want to ask, can I eat instant noodles?
Is the soup package in instant noodles different from the soup powder sold in the market?
Each time eating instant noodles, I usually throw away the oil package as I heard that packet contains many chemicals harmful to the health. Please tell me whether I am doing it right.
Please allow us to explain your question as follows:
Instant noodles in Vietnam generally contain 3 main additive packages: soup, satay oil and vegetable package. The content of additive packages is declared and written clearly on the product pack, including ingredients that can cause allergy to some certain people (if any).
1. About sweet powder
Sweet powder is a common name of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), sodium salt of glutamic acid, one among more than 20 amino acids for protein creation in the body. MSG is available in natural food such as meat, fish, milk (even breast milk) and in many types of vegetable such as tomato, peas, corn, carrot… When used for cooking, MSG helps increasing the taste of the food.
Some additive packages in instant noodles can contain MSG which is written clearly on the product ingredients: Flavor enhancer (Monosodium glutamate (621)).
MSG is one of the food additives which have been widely and deeply researched by hundreds of comprehensive experiments on animals and even human body, conducted by world leading research institutions for a long period of time who have confirmed that MSG is guaranteed to be safe to use by all age groups.
The regulations on food MSG content in Vietnam and other countries in the world are as follows:

The Law of Vietnam regulates the MSG content in noodles and additive products as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), implying the minimum amount of content based on production demand and guaranteed not to change the nature of the food.
* For people specifically diagnosed by doctors as allergic to MSG, should read the content carefully when using the product.
2. About the soup package and the soup sold in the market

Ingredients of the additive packets inside instant noodles are a mixture of different additives (salt, sugar, MSG, pepper, garlic, chilly…) in order to create a distinctive flavor for each product pack.
The list and content of the ingredients used in the additive packets are researched by the company to fit each type of product, complying with Vietnamese regulations, with full ingredient declaration on the package and confirmed by the Department of Food safety as “Declaration confirmed compliant with food safety regulations”; the ingredients and production specifications of the soup packet in Acecook Vietnam’s instant noodle products are all following regulations, company standards and Vietnam standards of instant noodles to fit with the use as attached inside the product pack.
Therefore, the soup package of instant noodles may not be same with one sold in the market. Acecook Vietnam doesn’t sell this soup packet alone in the market.
Besides, please note that using only half the amount and keep the soup packet for processing of other food will not meet the condition of closed preservation required by the product and may have the chance of spoilt.
3. The additive oil package
The ingredients of the satay oil package in instant noodles include:
– Oil: main material is refined oil.
– Flavor extract from natural ingredients such as different kinds of vegetable and additives.
The oil package serves to strengthen the taste of the product, so if one of the additive packages is missing, the distinctive taste of the product will be diminished.
However, the lipid content of each instant noodle pack (including the oil package) is clearly written on the pack and depend on the body conditions, users can choose to add more or less lipid.
Other than lipid, instant noodles also provide other nutrients such as protein, glucid and some fiber. As every day the body needs many types of essential nutrients such as: protein, lipid, glucid and vitamins, minerals and water, users can cook instant noodles with vegetable, fruits to add more water, vitamins, minerals to ensure the complete and balanced nutrition for the body.
